The AskAnything.com web site allows visitors to browse the site and search the archives without registration. We require registration to become members of the site and utilize the full services of our features.

Our site's registration form requires members to give us an e-mail to contact you when an answer to your question has been received.  We also ask you to create a screen name and password so we can identify you when you visit our site.  Your screen name is the name that is displayed on the site whenever you submit a question or answer a question.

You may view your answers directly on the web site if you choose to opt-out of receiving an auto-email notifying you of change of status in your question. In addition, you can change the frequency of emails that you receive: from each time a question is submitted to once a week.

Our site uses an order form for customers to request information, products, and services. Financial information that is collected is used to bill the user for products and services, such as name, address, and credit card information. We utilize a third-part credit card processor to authorize all credit card transactions.

Never is your email, name, address, and credit card information made available to third parties or other users of this site. The only information that is available to others is your expert profile information.

Our site's expert registration requires an e-mail address and a regular address for contacting you. We use your mailing address to send checks to you for any money earned from answering questions.  You may also provide profile information on your education, experience, interests, hobbies and other information that will enhance your expert status and increase your visibility to the people asking questions. You will also choose the subject category from which you wish to answer questions. This profile information is optional and not required.

You will receive an auto-email when a question in your category received so you can easily click on a Url that will take you to the question awaiting answer. This is for your convenience. At any time, you can set the frequency that you receive these emails (i.e. - once a day, once a week, never, etc.)

If you opt-out of this feature you will need to return to the web site frequently to see if there are any new questions you wish to answer awaiting.

We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Web site, and learn about the demographics of our user base. We use cookies to save your password so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site. If you choose to set your browser to reject cookies, then you will not be able to utilize our site, since we use the cookies to determine whether you are logged on from page to page.

Security

This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. We have instituted the following preventive measures:

  • Upon hiring all new employees, we inform them of our security policies and have them sign an employee manual which discusses security issues. At any time, only 2 employees have access to the secure data on our servers. They are given an access password, which is changed periodically, and also upon termination of their employment.
  • We review our web site security on a monthly basis, assessing whether this security has been breached and taking action which prevents this.
  • We utilize SSL encryption from Verisign Corp. for all personal information including address and credit card numbers. This protects all private information that is sent over the Internet.

Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us. They can do this in the following way:
